Automotive journalists gathered Monday to hand out awards.
The Hyundai’s Elantra compact car took the “Car of the Year” award.
The Ford F-150 pickup received “Truck of the Year” honors.
Ford Motor Company’s new electric Mustang Mach E was named the North American “Utility Vehicle of the Year” .
The selection process started last summer and the awards are announced every January. Auto companies then use the awards in their advertising.
Meanwhile, the North American International Auto Show will not be held in Detroit this year. Organizers are planning for a new fall event in Pontiac. The event, Motor Bella, will serve as a “bridge to the future,” bringing next-generation mobility and vehicle debuts while also addressing COVID-19 concerns about indoor events.
