UPDATE 6:33pm (EST) President Donald Trump has arrived at Walter Reed Medical Center and will be ushered into the Presidential wing of the hospital. He will have a private room but also an area for work, additional staff and a dining area. First Lady Melania Trump was not with him and will remain at the White House.
The White House is saying the plans are for the President to remain at the hospital for two days. However, the President will need to remain quarantined for at least 10 days.
UPDATE 6:19pm (EST) – President Trump walked to Marine One to be flown to Walter Reed Medical Center. He was wearing a mask on his way to be taken to the hospital. No word on how his condition has progressed.
President Donald Trump announced earlier this morning announced that he had tested positive for Covid-19. The White House announced that the President will be flown to Walter Reed Medical Center “out of an abundance of caution.”
Earlier reports were that President Trump had been experiencing mild symptoms of the virus, but throughout the afternoon, more details have been released including a new report that he was experiencing a low-grade fever and developed a small cough. Both are symptoms of the disease. His doctor has also reported the President was experiencing fatigue.
Some representatives had noticed the President had a horse speaking voice. Others report he had bowed out of a meeting and had Vice President Mike Pence take over. Pence and his wife have also been tested but their results were negative. Some had earlier believed he may have just been tired from the schedule.
Another White House aide Hope Hicks has also tested positive for Coronavirus.
At this point it does not appear that the President will have to turn over executive power to the Vice President. Under the Constitution, there is a system to allow the transfer of power until the situation passes and the President can return to office.
