Kent County Sheriffs’ are still investigating a suspicious package call made from the courthouse on Knapp Street.
The call came in around 9 this morning of a suspicious package delivered to the building. A worker discovered an envelope containing an unknown powder. The building was forced into a lock down for around three hours while an examination of the substance was conducted.
The Sheriffs department, Grand Rapids police and the FBI were all involved in the investigation.
After that time, it was determined the powder was not a threat and no individuals were demonstrating symptoms of any illness.
Authorities plan to continue their investigation and they’ll continue to test the substance to find out exactly what it is.
