January 1st, 2014 - March 31st, 2014 - One Book, One City for Kids
It's time for "One Book, One City for Kids" at the Grand Rapids Public Library! "One Book, One City for Kids" is an annual reading program that encourages all 4th graders in the city to read and discuss the same book. The program also strives to encourage a lifelong love of reading among students, to inspire readers to bring story ideas and themes to life through discussion, and to build collaborative ties between public libraries, school libraries, and area schools. This year the entire city will be reading "Because of Mr. Terupt" by Rob Buyea. In this book, seven 5th graders at Snow Hill School share how their lives are changed for the better by rookie teacher Mr. Terupt. All Grand Rapids Public Library locations are participating in "One Book, Once City for Kids," which is free and open to everyone! To learn more, call (616)988-5400 or visit www.grpl.org.
