Pizza Soup


1 lb Ground Italian sausage, browned & well-drained
1 sm Pkg Pepperoni, cut into small pieces
½ c Celery, diced
½ c Onion, diced
26 oz Spaghetti sauce
28 oz Stewed tomatoes, pureed
1 T Chopped fresh rosemary
1 T Chopped fresh basil (you can substitute 1 ½ T. dried Italian seasoning)
1 T Chopped fresh oregano
5 c Water
Shredded Mozzarella cheese (for topping)


Combine all ingredients, except cheese. Bring to a quick boil, then turn the heat down and simmer for 1 hour on stovetop (or place in crock pot on low heat for 6 hrs.) When serving, top bowls with generous amount of Mozzarella and offer bread sticks on the side. Note - this tastes even better reheated the next day!

*The base for this recipe was given to me by a friend, but our family has tweaked it over the years to suit our pizza tastes. You can do the same – use other meats, add your favorite veggies, spice it up or tone it down. And yes, you can even add pineapple.
