Matt Maher recently sang the National Anthem at a San Diego Padres game!
Baseball breaks your heart. It is designed to break your heart. The game begins in the spring, when everything else begins again, and it blossoms in the summer, filling the afternoons and evenings, and then as soon as the chill rains come, it stops and leaves you to face the fall all alone. You count on it, rely on it to buffer the passage of time, to keep the memory of sunshine and high skies alive, and then just when the days are all twilight, when you need it most, it stops.
That’s a quote from A. Bartlett Giamatti, and this week baseball really broke my heart as the post season came to an end for my Chicago Cubs.
Last weekend Matt Maher had an exciting baseball moment as he blessed the crowd at the San Diego Padres game by singing the National Anthem.
I think it was Mac Powell of Third Day that asked the question…which National Anthem, since Matt’s Canadian! Well… it was in fact, the Star Spangled Banner and you can check out his performance below!
