Tigers split a doubleheader

Jul 26th, 2010 - Sports News

The Detroit Tigers split a doubleheader at home with Toronto. The Blue Jays won the opener 5-3 then Detroit rallied in the night game to win 6-5.

After the weekend the Chicago White Sox still lead the AL Central by 1 game ahead of the Twins and 2 games in front of Detroit.

The Tigers are again suffering with injuries. They put outfielder Magglio Ordonez and second baseman Carlos Guillen on the 15 day disabled list. Ordonez fractured his right ankle Saturday and Guillen strained his right calf. The team also purchased the contract of infielder Will Rhymes from Toldeo and did the same for Jeff Larish, who plays first and third base.
