Hoosiers win at East Lansing

Feb 20th, 2013 - Sports News

— Top-ranked Indiana is also No. 1 in the Big Ten Conference after winning at East Lansing for the first time in 22 years.

Victor Oladipo (oh-lah-DEE'-poh) hit the go-ahead putback in the final minute before adding a dunk and a pair of free throws as the top-ranked Hoosiers knocked off the No. 4 Spartans 72-68. He finished with 19 points, nine rebounds and five steals, one game after spraining his left ankle.

Cody Zeller had 17 points for the Hoosiers, who had dropped 17 straight at Michigan State.

Michigan State had won five straight and 11 of 12, with its only loss during the stretch at Indiana.

The win puts Indiana into sole possession of first place in the Big Ten Conference lead at 12-2, one game ahead of the Spartans.

No. 2 Miami struggled for the second straight game before keeping their perfect conference record intact.

Reggie Johnson made a tie-breaking layup with 5.7 seconds left before Durand Scott added a pair of game-clinching free throws in the Hurricanes' 54-50 triumph against Virginia. Shane Larkin scored four of his team-high 11 points in the final 42 seconds as the Canes improved to 13-0 in the ACC with their 14th straight win.

The highest seed to fall was No. 5 Florida, which blew a 13-point lead in the second half and fell 63-60 at Missouri. Laurence Bowers had 17 points and 10 rebounds to help the Tigers improve to 15-0 at home. Phil Pressey added 10 assists, seven points, six rebounds and three steals as the Tigers dropped the Gators to 11-2 in the SEC.

In other top-25 action, Rotnei Clarke scored 16 points and Khyle Marshall added 14 as 15th-ranked Butler silenced Duquesne 68-49. Marshall contributed nine points during a 13-7 run that put the Bulldogs ahead 49-29 early in the second half.

No. 17 Marquette trounced Seton Hall 67-46 behind Vander Blue's 16 points. The Pirates actually led until the Golden Eagles scored 17 straight points over a 5:38 span of the second half.

Jordair Jett scored all 16 of his points in the second half as Saint Louis knocked off No. 24 VCU 76-62. Mike McCall Jr., added 15 points for the Billikens, who won their eighth in a row to take over the Atlantic 10 lead at 9-2.
