— Top overall seed Louisville, Kansas, Indiana and Gonzaga earned No. 1 seeds for NCAA men's basketball tournament. Defending national champion Kentucky won't even get a chance to defend its title as the 21-11 Wildcats are the 20th national champion to not make the NCAA field the next season and instead will play Robert Morris in the National Invitation Tournament opener Tuesday night.
The 68-team NCAA tournament starts Tuesday with a pair of first-round games. Liberty takes its 15-20 mark against NC A&T and Middle Tennessee State tackles Saint Mary's of California as the tourney tips off in Dayton.
Michigan is #4 seed in the South Regionals and will face #13 South Dakota State Thursday.
Michigan State University is a #3 seed and will open the tournament on Thursday against Valparaiso.
