Joy in the Coming King Verse: “Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign: the virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel.” Isaiah 7:14 What a joy it is to celebrate the coming King! After years and years of waiting for the promised Messiah, he was finally born in Bethlehem in a manager to bring the good news of great joy for all peoples. This birth of the King fulfills so many of God’s promises given to us in Scripture that began before the creation of the world. Not a moment sooner did God bring our Savior to earth, but He waited for the perfect time, in lowly and humble manner, brought Him to us to be with us. If you are in a period of waiting this holiday season; waiting for healing, waiting for a pregnancy, waiting for a new home, whatever it may be, take comfort in truly knowing that we can worship a God who is good and who promises to be with us in the waiting. He who began a good work in you, will finish it. He will not leave you nor forsake you. He is with you in the waiting. Let this lead you to great joy, hope, and gratitude, this holiday season for a God who keeps his promises to us even if it doesn’t look how we want it to. Even if it’s in a lowly and humble manner, God still provides everyday and provides us with our Savior Immanuel. Challenge: 1 - What would it look like to fill your home with joy, hope and praises this week? 2- Take time to meditate and remember the ways in which God has answered prayers in your life or has met you in the waiting. Let it lead you to deeper gratitude and praise.

What this adds up to, then, is this: no more lies, no more pretense. Tell your neighbor the truth. In Christ's body we're all connected to each other, after all. When you lie to others, you end up lying to yourself.
