First meeting at WCSG's Father Daughter Banquet

Rebecca generously shared this heart-warming story and gave us permission to share it with all of you! Rebecca shares: I never knew who my biological father was. Neither did my mom. I had a wonderful father who adopted me when I was 1. But I always wondered who I looked like. For Christmas this year I received a 23 and me DNA test kit. I was about to embark on an adventure to see if I could find my bio dad! Waiting was so hard. About a month and a half later I got my results and saw that I had a half sister. I messaged her and said, "Hey, we are sisters!" She responded "I bet I know who your dad is!" It’s been so beautiful because I prayed and prayed he would be alive, that I could meet him, and that he would embrace me. He has! He’s a born again believer and so am I. God has surely blessed us. We have spoken on the phone many times but [finding a time] to meet was difficult. I live in Mount Pleasant and he lives in Grand Rapids. I have 5 children and he drives cab 7 days of the week! He’s a busy guy. So when he invited me to WCSG's Father Daughter Banquet I immediately said "yes." It was one of the most beautiful memories of my life. On top of it I love Austin French and Freedom Hymn was a song I clung to when I became sober. The first hug, the first picture together, and our first concert all [happened] at the Father Daughter Banquet of 2024! Do you have a special story about how WCSG has impacted your life? We'd love to hear it and share it here on the Good News blog! Share your story and photos with us at wcsg.org/story. WCSG is a listener-funded station that relies on support from our listener family – consider sharing a gift today! Note: Rebecca's story was edited for length and clarity.

All those the Father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I will never drive away.
