Holy Week Reflection - Day 7 Verse: Matthew 28:5-7 - “The angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay. Then go quickly and tell his disciples: ‘He has risen from the dead and is going ahead of you into Galilee.” Happy Resurrection Sunday from WCSG! The grave could not hold Him. Christ is risen! Praise God! What does this mean for us? As Christians, we have the privilege of rejoicing in this good news and sharing it! The angel told the women, Mary Magdalene and Mary to go and spread the news that Jesus had risen. And quickly then went to share the joyous miracle and to see it with their own eyes. The women had an eagerness to see Jesus and to be with Him again. They trusted the angel and had the faith to believe that what the angel said was true. Even in this moment that seems overwhelming and fearful, they had built up this “spiritual muscle” to live their lives in full trust of the Lord. In their grief and pain, the women were able to not be afraid, to trust the Lord, and to act quickly in faith. What would our homes, our workplaces, our neighborhoods look like, if we had the daily eagerness to be in the Lord’s presence? Or the willingness to surrender and fully trust the Lord in the daily, mundane moments to be able to do so in the unexpected and surprising? What would it look like to share this good news with others in your life quickly and eagerly, not just today, but every day? These women deeply believed in what they had seen, heard, and knew to be true about Christ. They rejoiced in the truth and shared it with others. The miracle of the cross and resurrection could not be kept secret. Challenge: Are you eager to be in the Lord’s presence? What would it look like to share the good news of Jesus’ resurrection today and everyday in the mundane? Be sure to check out our Holy Week Video Series on our social media. If you are generous with the hungry and start giving yourselves to the down-and-out, your lives will begin to glow in the darkness; your shadowed lives will be bathed in sunlight.
