“THE PROMISE IS JESUS” HOLIDAY PERFORMANCE

Six Performances at Knickerbocker Theater, December 6, 7, 13, and 14;

Honoring 25 Years of Forming Future Christian Leaders

Turning Pointe School of Dance (TPSD), the Lakeshore’s premier dance studio and Christian arts ministry celebrating their 25^th year, today announced the return of The Promise is Jesus, a Lakeshore Christmas tradition featuring the scripture and celebrations surrounding the birth of Jesus Christ. Starting this year, The Promise is presented by a generous gift from Gentex Corporation. All performances will take place at the Knickerbocker Theater in Downtown Holland. The Promise is Jesus, weaves the Christmas story together using powerful scripture and beautiful music with dynamic classical ballet and contemporary dance. Performed by the TPSD Ensemble and Pre-Ensemble dancers, this uplifting show brings the audience into a deep experience of the Incarnation and the true beauty of Christmas.

In its 25 years as West Michigan’s leading dance performance studio, TPSD has graduated hundreds of young dancers—women and men who have gone on to become community leaders, professionals in medicine, engineering, and business. Each alumni has their own story and many will be attending the 2024 performance of The Promise is Jesus.

“The birth of Jesus made God real and present in our world, and it meant God would always fulfill His promises to us, through all of time,” said Debra Burr, executive director of TPSD. “The Turning Pointe Ensemble has brought the stories of God’s people to life through active praise and dance for more than two decades, and they’re thrilled to bring our marquee performance back to the stage this holiday season.”

Specializing in classical and contemporary ballet, as well as other contemporary dance, Turning Pointe School of Dance has been an impactful staple of the Holland community since their opening in 1999. The studio instructors and directors have committed the organization to transforming students into faithful future leaders through the teachings of Jesus Christ and the empowerment and discipline of dance.

“Every dancer that has entered our doors during the last 25 years has left knowing the Holy Spirit flows through their every movement, as dancers, young leaders, and members of an ensemble,” added Debra Burr, executive director of TPSD. “Turning Pointe creates a space for praise, learning, and community that leaves a lasting impression on them as they tackle a higher education, enter the workforce, or create new families.”
