The Zeeland Civic Chorus has been presenting Handel’s Messiah since 1940! Again this year, the chorus will be offering two free performances—the first one on Thursday, December 5 at Community Reformed Church of Zeeland located at 10376 Felch St. in Zeeland, and the second on Tuesday, December 10 at Central Avenue Christian Reformed Church located at 259 Central Ave. in Holland. Both performances will begin at 7:00 pm.

The chorus is made up of over 110 volunteer members from our community and represents all ages - high school to retired. They are families - husbands and wives, brothers and sisters, parents and children, grandparents and grandchildren - singing together.

The best of local talent joins the chorus in giving quality performances year after year. The director, Richard Cory, and the accompanists are all experienced performers in our community. An organ accompanies the chorus in its performance of Handel’s Messiah. The organist, Rhonda Edgington, is only the second organist to accompany the Zeeland Civic Chorus in the last 50 years! The other accompanists are: Bruce Formsma, Trumpet; Dan Timmer, Timpani. The four soloists, Jennie Judd Reyes, Soprano; Rebecca Russcher, Mezzo/Contralto; Jon Lovegrove, Tenor; and William Bokhout, Baritone, are well known in our community and are very active in professional arts programs throughout West Michigan.

The Chorus is a 501c3 non-profit organization, which makes your contributions completely tax deductible.

Though he was God, he did not think of equality with God as something to cling to. Instead, he gave up his divine privileges; he took the humble position of a slave and was born as a human being.
