It took 15 rounds of voting and a number of concessions, but Kevin McCarthy is the next Speaker of the House.
To become speaker , Kevin McCarthy had to make concessions to a small group of lawmakers.
Late Friday a 15th vote was taken and McCarthy received enough votes to win the position.
New members were sworn in over the weekend.
Today the House will be back to work and they are expected to take up a rules package which governs how the House does its business.
Some of the concessions are being put into writing to be voted on when lawmakers return this week for their first votes as the majority party.
We should learn more about the concessions as they are voted on.
