The social media site helped lead to the rescue of a North Carolina teen.

A teenager was rescued in Kentucky after a motorist recognized a hand gesture as a sign of distress.

The North Carolina teen was spotted on a highway using a hand signal to indicate she needed help, a hand signal featured on Tik Tok.  She had been taken from North Carolina and driven to Ohio.  The motorist recognized the hand signal from a video that was originally meant to indicate domestic abuse.  Fearing the worst, the motorist called authorities who were able to locate the vehicle.  After stopping the car, the 16-year old was removed and the suspect was arrested.

The suspect faces multiple charges including unlawful imprisonment.
