The annual Thanksgiving Day race is ahead of their goals.
The Grand Rapids Turkey Trot has already exceeded their fundraising goal for this year’s event.
Organizers on Monday report over four-thousand runners have registered, and that's expected to increase if history is any indicator.Typically registrations increase up to the time of the event, as in-person registration is open to the start of the 5k race.
Another record has been in the amount of funds raised to assist sporting activities for the Grand Rapids Public Schools. Some 100-thousand dollars has already been raised, and those numbers will also increase with more registrants.
The race starts in front of Van Andel Arena on Thursday at 8:30 am with a mini trot for the kids starting before at 8:10.
