Governor Whitmer signs the final measure of the "Reproductive Health Act"
-Last year the U.S. Supreme Court allowed each state to make decisions regarding abortions. The states could then pass their own restrictions.
In Michigan, Governor Whitmer has signed bills in the so-called Reproductive Health Act and she signed the final bill in that package on Monday.
This bill repeals Michigan's ban on insurance coverage for abortion without purchase of a separate rider and implements other protections for doctors and patients. The Governor says people deserve to receive accessible safe abortion care.

Since winning full legislative control, Michigan Democrats have struck down the state’s 1931 abortion ban and lifted regulations on abortion clinics.
Right to Life of Michigan says Governor Whitmer signed the final bill which repealed the abortion insurance opt-out law.
“Under the guise of expanding abortion access, the Governor has just mandated that all Michigan taxpayers pay for other peoples’ abortions through insurance purchased on the state exchanges. Today was all about forcing Michigan taxpayers, already experiencing financial strain from inflation, to fund the Governor’s singular policy focus – abortion,” said Genevieve Marnon, Legislative Director.
“Do not be fooled. This bill has nothing to do with access to abortion for women who have been subjected to sexual abuse. Women in Michigan have full access to abortion up until birth for any reason whatsoever,” added Marnon. For more information, visit RTL.org.
