Despite some issues, the Salvation Army's Red Kettle Campaign looks to reach their goal.

Donations to the Red Kettle Campaign of the Salvation Army are down this year but a group of anonymous donors are looking to help out.

The nonprofit is looking to raise $1.4 million for its annual Red Kettle Christmas Campaign, which provides support to vulnerable community members in Kent County. “Donations at store red kettles are down significantly compared to last year, due to a shortage of volunteers at the kettles,” said Cathy Blackburn, Development Director of The Salvation Army in Kent County. “With less than two weeks left until Christmas Eve, we are only at about 35% percent of our goal.”

In addition, requests for assistance are also up.

So a group  of anonymous donors have agreed to help support the campaign make up for this lost ground.

They will match donations dollar-for-dollar up to 250-thousand-dollars, now through New Year’s Eve. The money stays in the West Michigan community helping out families in need during this holiday season.

If you'd like to help, you can make a donation at any Red Kettle location.
