President Biden is set to welcome Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy today in Washington D.C.
WASHINGTON D.C. - Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is leaving Europe and headed for the United States today. The White House says he is planning to visit the U.S. Capitol, meet with President Biden and address a joint session of Congress.
Last week, President Biden invited Zelenskyy to visit Washington to underscore the U.S.'s continued commitment to Ukraine.
Earlier this year Russia launched an assault and war against Ukraine.
The trip will be Zelenskyy's first travel outside of his country since the Russian invasion of Ukraine began 10 months ago.
President Biden is expected to commit $2 Billion in additional U.S. security assistance for Ukraine.
