Best Buy warns of defective air fryers that are being recalled.
WASHINGTON -(TND) — Over 150,000 air fryers are being recalled by Best Buy due to fire and burn risks.
This week, the Consumer Product Safety Commission announced that 187,400 (an addition 99,900 in Canada) Insignia brand air fryers are part of the recall.
The air fryer ovens, which say "Insignia" on the top or front of the unit, can overheat, causing the glass on the door to shatter, which could cause a fire, burns or lacerations.
So far, 24 reports of overheating/melting or glass shattering, including six reports of the fryers catching on fire, have been received. No injuries or property damage was reported.
A product rating label can be seen on the bottom of each unit, which contains the model number.

The following model numbers are included in the recall: NS-AF34D2, NS-AF5DSS2, NS-AF5MSS2, NS-AF8DBD2, NS-AF10DBK2, and NS-AF10DSS2.
Best Buy urges those with the recalled air fryers to stop using them immediately and visit a dedicated recall website to submit photos and other information. The company says it has contacted all known purchasers directly.
After submitting the required information, consumers can get a refund for their purchase via a check or store credit.
