Extra police are keeping an eye out for those not wearing their seat belts.

Officers from local police departments, sheriff's offices and Michigan State Police will be conducting seat belt enforcement across the state.
The state says as the busy summer travel season gets underway, they want to make sure drivers and passengers are safe.
In 2021, the state said 254 people killed in traffic crashes were not wearing a seatbelt. That was an 11.4% increase over 2020.
Michigan law requires drivers, front-seat passengers, and passengers 15 and younger in any seating position to be buckled up.
The fine and associated costs for not wearing a seat belt is $65.
Children must be in a car seat or booster seat until they are eight years old or 4-9 tall. Children under four years old must be in the back seat.
