A celebration of the locomotive that changed the landscape of America.

Celebrating a bygone era while maintaining an interest in the Iron Horses that helped develop our country.

That’s the purpose behind this week’s Travelin’ Together as we visit the Durand Railroad Days Festival which kicks off today and runs through Sunday. The event in Durand, Michigan will feature carnival rides, a model train exhibition and plenty of food. The festival showcases a Celebration of Railroading including railroad exhibits in a Pullman Baggage Car and a tour of Steam Locomotive Engine 5632. These events are free to the public.

You can also visit the Durand Union Station and History Museum. The museum gallery features new exhibits several times per year to pay tribute to the colorful heritage of the railroader and to the contribution of Michigan’s railroads to lumber, mining, agriculture, and industry. It is also one of the most photographed railroad depots in the country.

The festival incorporates a unique activity for both kids and adults - a cookoff contest. There's also a parade on Saturday. For information including a schedule of events, visit Durand Railroad Days.

Encouraging Words From Your Bible

You watched me as I was being formed in utter seclusion, as I was woven together in the dark of the womb. You saw me before I was born. Every day of my life was recorded in your book. Every moment was laid out before a single day had passed.
