Versiti is encouraging more people to take time this summer to donate blood.

-Today, June 14th is National Blood Donor Day

 Every year, on June 14th , countries around the world celebrate World Blood Donor Day. The event serves to thank voluntary, unpaid blood donors for their life-saving gifts of blood and to raise awareness of the need for regular blood donations to ensure the quality, safety and availability of blood and blood products for patients in need.

Summer can be a critical time for blood banks as many regular donors are on vacation and schedules are interrupted with summer activities. High Schools and Colleges are closed and not able to host blood drives during the summer months.

Versiti is a fusion of donors, scientific curiosity and precision medicine that recognizes the gifts of blood and life are precious.

With nearly 50 established donor centers across Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Ohio and Wisconsin, along with blood drives at businesses, schools and places of worship, it’s easy to find a location to donate blood near you.
