Bystanders tried to help save a person who was struggling in Lake Michigan Tuesday afternoon.
- The Mason County Sheriff's Office reported that crews were called to respond to a person drowning at Ludington State Park on Tuesday afternoon.
Just before 2:00 p.m. a person was reported to have been struggling in the water of Lake Michigan at the State Park.
Several people who were at the park at the time entered the water. The victim slipped under the surface but those who responded were able to locate the victim and pull him to a raft. They took him to shore and started CPR.
The victim was pronounced deceased at Corewell Health Ludington Hospital.
The victim's identity was not being released until family members were notified.
