A number of people lost their lives Wednesday due to high waves and rip currents in Lake Michigan.
Emergency crews were called to Lake Michigan Wednesday after a number of people struggled in the water.
Two adults and one child were rescued from the water in South Haven at North Beach. A 7 -year-old boy from Texas drown.
A 33-year-old man from Ohio tried to save the boy but he went under and was missing and presumed to have drowned.
At North Beach Park in Ferrysburg, a Norton Shores 16-year-old boy came to the beach with a church group. He began to struggle in the water as conditions pushed him beyond the swimming area and he went under before being rescued.
Earlier in the week on Tuesday, a 9-year-girl died after being pulled from Lake Michigan in Indiana.
The wind has been stronger this week, resulting in high waves and a strong under tow along the Lake Michigan shoreline. Red and yellow flags have been flying to issue caution for those wanting to get into the water.
Also Wednesday, the body of a 60-year-old man from Coopersville was found in the water near the Grand Isle Marina in Grand Haven. Authorities believe he drowned accidentally after falling from his boat in the marina.
