The IRS estimates that close to 1.5 million have yet to file and the deadline for filing these outstanding returns is Monday, July 17, 2023.

If the deadline is missed, the unclaimed money becomes the property of the US Treasury.
The agency said that the average median refund for the tax year 2019 amounts to $893.
