After months of investigation, the FBI appears ready to begin meeting with survivors of Larry Nassar's abuse.
Following a report of a massive failure, the FBI now appears ready to begin talking settlements with survivors of Larry Nassar. The Justice Department’s report found large scale failures to listen to survivors and ignore other signs of abuse. Because of that, the report found that more women and girls suffered abuse.
People with knowledge of the situation, say several survivors lawyers have been contacted by the department and are beginning to open talks. No lawyers at this point have confirmed the potential negotiations.
As far back as 2015, the FBI had received reports of abuse by the sports doctor. Nassar was arrested in 2016, but by that point, several other women and girls were abused. The agents involved were never disciplined. The department responded with the agents were following procedures in place at the time.
