Habitat Lakeshore is celebrating the 15th year of Women Build.
Several dozen groups have volunteered to help local women build their first home.
Lakeshore Habitat is in the midst of their annual ‘Women Build’ coming alongside eight women to help build their own home, not for them, but alongside them. Some 200 female volunteers, from multiple community, church, or local businesses, will work on the houses this summer in order for their owners to move in to build stronger, safer communities.
This year, 23 groups have signed up to participate. Volunteer Coordinator Travis Steinhoff says the program has continued to grow. "Especially this year as we've been able to reflect on 15 years of Women Build here in our community. This year is by far our biggest event to date. We opened it up to the entire Summer because we couldn't fit all our groups in just one month's time anymore."
