'Chaos' appears to be the word repeated by many to describe the situation in Afghanistan.
The situation in Afghanistan remains tense.
An estimated 15,000 American citizens remain in the country and flights leaving Kabul are not full. Around two thousand Afghan’s have left on US flights and more flights are planned for now. Some eyewitness reports say they’ve seen planes circle the airport, only to fly off in a different direction.
One logistical problem was created as rumors swirled that no identification or documentation was needed to board a plan leaving the country. This has led to a large number of Afghans left stranded.
Meanwhile, efforts are underway to prevent the Taliban from gaining more control.
The US is taking action to prevent the Taliban from receiving aid funding but may not be able to stop more. The Treasury Department has halted access to the Afghan Central Bank, but another round of funding meant for the former government is unsecured. GOP lawmakers are urging action from the International Monetary Fund to prevent 450 million US dollars from hitting bank accounts next week.
