The numbers are coming down as hundreds of crews continue efforts to restore power across the state.
At one point there were over 160-thousand Consumers Energy customers who lost power in Tuesday's storms.
More customers are coming back online as Consumers Energy has hundreds of crews working around the state. As of today, Consumers reports right around 23-thousand customers are still without power. Most of those are between Greenville and Carson City. The majority of those are expected to be back up and running by late today.
There are several communities east of Lansing that are without electrical service. Up near Midland there are thousands without power.
Strong winds ripped through the state earlier this week downing lines and tree limbs.
“We won’t stop until the job is finished,” said Chris Fultz, one of Consumers Energy’s Officers in Charge for restoration. “The damage created by this storm was significant and our line workers are giving their all to safely restore power as quickly as possible. We are deeply grateful for our customers’ patience and doing all we can to show our gratitude and minimize their inconvenience.”
As it did Wednesday in Midland and Kent counties, Consumers Energy is providing free ice and water today to help people in regions hit hardest by the storm.
