The impact of the storm that has cost millions in property damage, has also cost lives.

Hurricane Helene has claimed over 100 lives with another 600 reported missing. Many of those may be without communication and are unable to connect with relatives. More than 2 million people in the region are reportedly without power, while Florida Governor Ron DeSantis says 99% of the state’s homes and businesses have electrical service.

President Joe Biden is expected to visit the region, while saying he will arrive when his presence does not interfere with relief work.

Meanwhile, relief efforts are being started around the country, including Michigan, in response to the devastation.
