The weapon was found after kids were dropped off near the Rockford Public Schools Administration Building.
Misdemeanor charges will be filed against a member of the Rockford Public Services and an on-call firefighter after a weapon fell off his personal vehicle. Kent County Prosecutor Chris Becker says Jason Stoll faces one count of reckless use of a firearm following his personal handgun found in the parking lot of the Rockford Public Schools administration building earlier this week.
Stoll told investigators that he was rushed to get his kids to school and forgot he left the weapon on the roof of his vehicle. It didn't slide off till he reached the parking lot. An investigation started after a witness found the handgun, secured it, then alerted authorities.Police say no students ever handled the gun.
If convicted, Stoll could face a $500 dollar fine, and/or 90 days in jail.
