Attorney's for Ethan Crumbley argue the teen does not belong in an adult facility. Prosecuting attorney's argue the juvenile facility is not the right place for the 15-year old.
The preliminary exam for the alleged Oxford High School shooter saw two very different perspectives on the same incident.
Ethan Crumbley is accused of killing four people and wounding several others after allegedly bringing a gun to school.
The attorney for Crumbley described the shooting at Oxford High School as ‘an isolated incident.’ Attorney Paulette Loftin testified that Crumbley had no prior run-ins with the law, and should not be held in the adult section of the Oakland County Jail. Loftin says the teen can hear adult inmates, in violation of state law.
Prosecutor Marc Keast voiced his opposition to defense attorney’s request that Crumbley be housed in a juvenile facility.
"Children's Village is not a secure facility. They have had escapes in the past, the recent past. I can't imagine a situation where we could put this defendant, in a school environment after what he did on November, the 30th."
The judge decided to keep Crumbley at the adult facility and require the sheriff to move adult inmates further away from the 15-year old. The judge also set a date of January 7th for Crumbley's next court appearance.
