At least 9 area young people will face charges for area school threats.
- Muskegon County prosecutors will charge at least nine juveniles in connection with a number of social media threats made against schools.
The juveniles range in age from 12 to 14 and involve the school districts of Mona Shores, Muskegon, Muskegon Heights, Mona Shores, Oakridge, Reeths-Puffer, and Whitehall.
Some were ordered to be placed on home confinement with no access to social media.
Some threats were made because the student didn't want to go to school.
The juveniles will face various charges, including disturbing the peace, intentional threats against a school or student, attempted false report or threat of terrorism.
Over 100 schools in Michigan have been the subject of copycat threats following the violence that recently took place at Oxford High School near Detroit.
