Meijer stores will be issuing at-home COVID-19 PCR tests, free of charge to customers in the Midwest, but you need to register first and get a voucher.
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich., - You may have already seen the billboards, but Meijer stores say they will issue at-home COVID-19 PCR tests, free of charge. They are partnering with eTrueNorth testing company, that has performed testing nationwide.
The “at-home” PCR tests will be distributed at all 254 Meijer pharmacy stores in Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Kentucky, and Wisconsin.
To get a free Covid-19 test kit, individuals must first register at www.ineedacovid19test.com to complete an online assessment and to select a Meijer location.
Individuals will be able to pick up their test kit after they receive a voucher, which can either be printed or shown on a smart phone.
After performing the swab test, individual will return the specimens in a self-contained bag to the Meijer pharmacy location and will deposit it into a designated drop box.
The result are expected to take 48 to 72 hours.
For individuals who are symptomatic, tests may be picked up and specimen collection dropped off by a family member or friend with proof of voucher.
