The Governor is calling on the Michigan Investment Board to begin divesting the state's pension and retirement system from Russian owned companies.
Governor Gretchen Whitmer has ordered the state’s retirement and pension system to divest itself of Russian investments.
Whitmer calls the Russian invasion of the Ukraine as “heinous acts.” And called for a special meeting of the state’s investment board. The board will make a decision soon on removing investments that are specifically connected with Russian owned companies.
Approximately .06 of the state’s retirement investment is held in Russian based companies.
