The trial is underway in Grand Rapids for four men facing kidnapping conspiracy charges.
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - Opening statements are set to begin in the trial of four men charged with plotting to kidnap Governor Whitmer.
Prosecutors say the men were angry about COVID-19 restrictions that were imposed by the state of Michigan. Defendants plan to argue they were entrapped and that undercover informants talked them into it.
12 jurors and 6 alternates were seated Tuesday in federal court in Grand Rapids.
U.S. District Judge Robert Jonker is giving the jury instructions today. He says the trial could last more than a month.
