While the parades and flowers spell Tulip Time, the economic impact of those simple activities is massive.
Holland's Tulip Time is an economic driver for the community and a major influencer on the tourism industry in the state.
According to data compiled by Hope College and in conjunction with Tulip Time, the week long event generates 48 million dollars directly into the Holland/Zeeland area. But not only that, it represents over 12 and a half percent of the total economic impact of tourism dollars in the state.
For every one dollar in donated investment into the community, another 27 dollars in economic impact is generated. Most of the money is generated through the parade, ticketed events, and food sales. The average Tulip Time visitor will spend just under three days in the area taking in the Dutch Dancers, as well as the parades and other cultural events.
Tulip Time concludes this weekend.
