GRAND RAPDIS, Mich. - Brad Brown took the oath of office on Monday and becomes the next fire chief for the city of Grand Rapids.

He is a 27-year veteran of the fire service and has filled various roles in his 20 years of serving with the city of Grand Rapids.

Chief Brown is taking over for John Leman who is now retired and served as the city's chief since 2016.

Chief Brown offered a few words and said, "Today is a day of immense pride and gratitude, as I stand before you as your newly-appointed fire chief - the 25th fire chief to serve our great city. Words cannot express the honor and humility I feel accepting this position and the tremendous responsibility that comes with it."
