The Board of Canvassers deadlocked over petitions and if five GOP candidates should be allowed on the ballot for Governor.
Several GOP candidates for Governor appear headed to the courtroom.
This after the State Board of Canvassers deadlocked over whether five GOP candidates should have their names on the ballot, despite staff finding falsified signatures. Because of this, the names of the candidates will not appear on the ballot.
Candidates lawyers argued the canvassers should evaluate the petitions on a line-by-line basis, and not dismiss pages wholesale. Lawyers say just because they appear on petition sheets with other invalid signatures, it doesn't mean every name is invalidated.
Campaigns are up against several hard deadlines as the finalization of the ballot is scheduled for June 3rd. The GOP gubernatorial primary is scheduled for August 2nd and the general election is November 3rd.
Investigators say it does not appear that the candidates themselves were aware some of the signature collectors were falsifying the petitions.
