Volunteers will work with KABOOM! to construct a new playground in 6 hours.
Volunteers from Amway and the Junior League of Grand Rapids, along with members of the community are coming together today, Friday August 13, to build a state-of-the-art playground for Mel Trotter Ministries.
The group is working with KABOOM! to transform the outdated playground in about six hours.
KABOOM! works nationally to end play space inequity. They unite with communities to build kid-designed playspaces that can spark joy and foster a sense of belonging for the kids who are often denied opportunities to thrive. Their mission is to end playspace inequity for good.
This playground will provide more than 500 children annually with a great, safe place to play.
Mel Trotter Ministries continue to work at helping families that deal with homelessness in the Grand Rapids area.
The final construction phase will take place from 1 - 2:30 p.m., with a ribbon cutting ceremony taking place after that.
