A number of automotive workers will get notices this week that Ford plans to downsize and make changes.
Ford Motor Company began sending emails out to their employees letting them know that they plan to cut about 3,000 white-collar jobs.
Ford says that in order to grow in the future and remain competitive, they will need to make some changes as they reshape all aspects of their operations. They also are making a bigger transition to electric vehicles.
“We worked differently than in the past, examining each team’s shifting work statement connected to our Ford+ plan. We are eliminating work, as well as reorganizing and simplifying functions throughout the business,” read the message to employees.
The automaker announced Monday that 2,000 full-time salaried workers would be let go, along with another 1,000 contract positions.
A number of workers in Michigan will be impacted by the reorganization.
