Red Flags were flying along Lake Michigan but another swimmer is pulled out beyond the buoys.
GRAND HAVEN, Mich. - The body of a 21-year-old male was pulled from Lake Michigan Sunday afternoon.
Red flags were flying along the beach alerting swimmers to the dangerous conditions and strong undertow but swimmers still entered the waters of Lake Michigan on Sunday.
Rescue crews were called to help find a missing swimmer after he was swept out past the buoys.
A Coast Guard helicopter was called in to help with the search. The body was eventually found around 6 p.m.
The National Weather Service has issued a HIGH Beach Hazards Statement and Small Craft Advisories for Lake Michigan again today. A passing front will result in higher winds and wave action. Some waves could be as high as 6 feet.
Swimmers are always advised to check for Red Flags posted at area beaches.
