GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Sept. 29,2021 – CURE International (CURE), a non-profit Christian organization operating eight pediatric hospitals throughout the world, celebrated the opening of its new headquarters in Grand Rapids, Michigan, on Sept. 29.  The new headquarters, located at 70 Ionia Avenue SW, will house a staff of 40 individuals, bringing CURE within steps of Grand Rapids’ large healthcare industry.

“As we all know, the West Michigan community has an incredible healthcare presence. Relocating our headquarters to Grand Rapids gives us an opportunity to be a part of that community,” said Jerry Tubergen, board chair for CURE. “Cure values collaborative partnerships that cultivate trust and authenticity.  And that is what Grand Rapids is, a place built on authenticity and where collaboration comes together for the greater good.

With pediatric hospitals located in Ethiopia, Malawi, Philippines, Zambia, Kenya, Niger, Uganda, and Zimbabwe, CURE employees nearly 1,000 healthcare workers worldwide. CURE treats children who are dealing with clubfoot, bowed legs, cleft lips, untreated burns and hydrocephalus, among other things. Since 1996, the organization has provided more than five- million patient visits and performed nearly 300,000 thousand surgeries.

“We will work to collaborate with those in healthcare in Grand Rapids to share best practices,” said CURE’s President and CEO Justin Narducci. “It is important that we not only share our mission to reach and heal children with disabilities to give them opportunities to live better lives as they mature and allow them to better interact and participate in activities with other children in their villages/communities, but to be responsible stewards within the communities that we operate.”

Multiple leaders in the area of healthcare, research and education, which includes Michigan State, University of Michigan, Grand Valley State University, Ferris State University, the Van Andel Institute, and others are located in Grand Rapids.

“Your work is nothing short of a miracle,” said Grand Rapids Mayor Rosalyn Bliss. “We now have another strong medical provider to add to the City’s and region’s growing list.  From Spectrum Health, St. Mary’s, Metro Health, Cherry Health and so many more. I can proudly say we are home to CURE International.”

CURE first moved to Michigan from New Cumberland, Pennsylvania in 2019 after acquiring Michigan-based International Aid. CURE will keep it’s warehousing operations in Spring Lake.

About CURE International:

CURE International is a Christian nonprofit organization that operates a global network of pediatric surgical hospitals, which serve one of the world’s most marginalized and vulnerable populations – children with disabilities. Patients at CURE hospitals suffer from orthopedic, neurosurgical, and maxillofacial conditions that limit their mobility/functionality and opportunities for education and employment. In addition to world-class clinical service, CURE intentionally ministers to the emotional and spiritual needs of patients in its care and invests in training programs that aim to equip the next generation of health workers and strengthen national health care systems. Since inception, CURE has conducted more than 5.2 million patient visits and 300,000 surgical procedures around the world. For more information, visit https://cure.org.
