President Biden announces ISIS leader killed in raid at his home in Syria. Says ISIS leader took his own life and the lives of his family.

President Joe Biden says terrorist leaders can count on America to find them.

The President made the statement as part of an announcement claiming the leader of ISIS was killed during a raid on his compound in Syria.

The target was Abu Ibrahim al-Hashimi al-Qurayshi, the latest leader of ISIS and believed to be the next in line after Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi.  Baghdadi was killed in a similar raid in 2019.

At least 13 people were killed in the raid, several of them believed to be children.  No US casualties were reported.

Biden says Qurasyshi took his own life by blowing himself up with a suicide vest, and taking his wife and at least one child with him.

Several people were killed when US forces returned gunfire coming from the second floor of the building.

The operation took several months to plan and received the ok from the President after consulting with military commanders.  The forces were in action for about two hours from start to finish of the operation.  The leaders of US Central Command say the intent of this operation was to capture Qurasyshi and bring him to justice.
