Pfizer begins testing their COVID-19 pill in high risk children ages 6-17 years-old.

On Wednesday Pfizer announced that they have started a clinical trial testing of their antiviral pill in children as young as 6.

Pfizer is looking to enroll some 140 participants in the trial for the drug called Paxlovid.

The company says the pillcan safely treat Covid in children who are at risk of becoming severely ill.

The pills need to be taken early to be effective — within five days of symptom onset.

Paxlovid has already been authorized for people ages 12 and older.

The children in the trial will be divided into two groups to determine what type of dosage they would receive.

The company also said it expects to enroll children under age 6 once its scientists have finished developing an appropriate formulation of the pill.

Trial locations include Mississippi, South Carolina and Texas, according to clinicaltrials.gov.

I will take you by the hand and guard you, and I will give you to my people, Israel, as a symbol of my covenant with them. And you will be a light to guide the nations. You will open the eyes of the blind. You will free the captives from prison, releasing those who sit in dark dungeons.
