A number of suncreen products are being recalled.
Johnson & Johnson announced this week that they are recalling five of its sunscreen products after they found some of them contained low levels of benzene.
With repeated exposure, Benzene can cause cancer.
The sunscreens being recalled are:
- Aveeno Protect and Refresh aerosol sunscreen;
- Neutrogena Beach Defense aerosol sunscreen;
- Neutrogena CoolDry Sport aerosol sunscreen;
- Neutrogena Invisible Daily Defense aerosol sunscreen; and,
- Neutrogena UltraSheer aerosol sunscreen.
The recall includes all can sizes and all levels of sun protection, or SPF.
Benzene was found after product testing was conducted by the company and an independent laboratory. J&J said they are currently investigating how the chemical got into the products.
J&J is urging customers to stop using the sunscreens immediately. Customers can get a refund by calling J&J’s Consumer Care Center at 1-800-458-1673.
