Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced this week that Canada could allow fully vaccinated Americans into Canada for non-essential travel beginning next month. .
Trudeau also said that Canada should be in a position to welcome back fully vaccinated travelers from all countries by early September.
A readout released by Trudeau’s office from a conversation he had with leaders of Canada’s provinces reads:
“Canada would be in a position to welcome fully vaccinated travelers from all countries by early September. He noted the ongoing discussions with the United States on reopening plans, and indicated that we could expect to start allowing fully vaccinated U.S. citizens and permanent residents into Canada as of mid-August for non-essential travel.”
Trudeau said that nearly 80% of eligible Canadians have been vaccinated with their first dose and that more than 50% of eligible Canadians are fully vaccinated.
