The AG issues a warn of caution for fraud when shopping on line during Amazon Prime Days.

(Positive Prep) - It’s Amazon Prime Day! Today (Tuesday) and tomorrow (Wednesday) you can expect millions of deals. This 48-hour sale event will feature rare discounts and lightning deals across various categories, including kitchen, tech, home, and outdoor items. The deals started at midnight! 

If you were needing to get a product for your home or office, it could be a good time to look for a deal. You must be a Prime member on Amazon to enjoy the savings though. Prime Day is known for its savings on gadgets and home essentials, with discounts on items like headphones, robot vacuums, air fryers, and smart TVs. In other news, productivity at the office could be down today!

 

 

(AG Press Release) - Michigan's Attorney General  Dana Nessel is reminding consumers to stay vigilant as they shop  because events like this has scammers looking to exploit unsuspecting customers.

 

-Make a shopping list and set a budget before browsing Prime deals.

-Confirm all models and items before purchasing

-Pay close attention to the return policies

-Place items in their carts instead of using the "Buy Now" functionality to ensure the best deals.

-Compare prices with competitors.

 

Check out reviews:

-Conduct your own research of products and third-party sellers

-Check reviews for products on other sites

-Pay more attention to verified Amazon reviews

 

You should always check the sender' email address and verify any claims by logging into your Amazon account directly through the official website.

 

Be on the lookout for websites mimicking Amazon's look and feel, which may advertise deep discounts to steal payment information.

 

Michiganders should scrutinize calls alerting them to suspicious activity on their Amazon account and avoid giving out personal information.  Amazon will never send unsolicited messages asking for sensitive information.

 

Also get ready for packages to be delivered and make sure you are aware of delivery dates.
